There are only a few things you need to know to get started!!

The Couponing Language:

The following refer to the newspaper inserts:
*SS- Smart Source
*RP- Red Plum
*P&G- Proctor and Gamble
^^All of the above names have coupon inserts in the Sunday paper, AND websites online to print from!!!^^

These are some basic things to know:
*BOGO, B1G1, B2G1- These all refer to "buy one item get one item ______." These could be buy one, get one free, or buy one, get one 50% off.
*Catalina- These are the coupons that print out at the register. ANY manufacturer's coupon that prints out at a store can be used anywhere. For example, if a coupon for $1 off Friskies cat food prints out at the register at Winn-Dixie, This coupon can be used at Wal-Mart.
*Extra bucks- One of the most wonderful things about CVS. If you do not have a CVS card, sign up NOW. Extra bucks are rewarded when you buy certain things that are advertised. They are also awarded at the end of each spending season. You get back a certain percentage of what you spend! They are just like cash, but cannot be used to pay for tax.
*EXP- expiration date
* Manufacturer- the company that makes brand named items. Example: Suave, Schick, Olay, etc.
*OOP- out of pocket expense. Usually seen when a couponer is breaking down their spending or transaction.
*One Coupon per PURCHASE- meaning you can only use 1 coupon for 1 item purchased. Example: if you buy 3 tubes of toothpaste and have a coupon stating one coupon per purchase, you may only use one coupon per tube of toothpaste. You can use 3 coupons for your purchase of 3 toothpastes.
*One Coupon per TRANSACTION: meaning you can only use 1 coupon for 1 item for the whole transaction. If the need for more than one to be used arises, the couponer must complete separate transactions.
*Peelie- The stickers found on items in the store. These are manufacturer's coupons.
*Purchase- to buy an item. Many purchases in one transaction.
*Resister Rewards- the Walgreens system of getting rewards as dollars to use on another purchase. These print out as Catalinas at the register.
*Transaction- to buy many items and pay for them together as one total. Many purchases in one transaction.
